Understand the student,
then build the plan.
The Grove Collective was founded on a simple idea: the students who do best are not the ones chasing prestige, but the ones who find direction. Everything here follows from that.
What We Believe
Every student deserves to be understood before they are evaluated.
College is not the destination. It is one milestone in a much longer journey toward a meaningful life. Our responsibility is to build impressive applications that reflect the accomplishments and personalities of our wonderfully unique students. It is also to help students become confident, self-aware young adults who know who they are, where they will thrive, and why.

Too often this process turns into a frantic checklist. We slow it down. Every engagement opens with a long discovery period — academic history, interests, ambitions, and the anxieties nobody says out loud.
From there we build a strategy that is ambitious but livable, favoring things that actually matter to the student over padding. The result is a stronger application and, more importantly, a more confident young adult.

Organization is the quiet part of personal attention.
We plan each year around the needs we can anticipate for every student — and then we deliberately overshoot, reserving more time than we expect to use. It means the busy seasons never come as a surprise, and no family is ever competing for attention.
What we stand for.
- Strategic Clarity
- We replace guesswork with a structured, personal roadmap that connects a student's real strengths to places they can genuinely thrive.
- Authentic Narrative
- People remember stories, not résumés. We help students say who they are with conviction, in their own voice.
- Whole-Family Partnership
- Students, parents, and school counselors work as one team here. Every voice is heard, and every date is on the calendar.
- Quiet Rigor
- High standards, held warmly. We ask a lot of students because we believe they are capable of more than they think.
One core counselor, a national network of people worth knowing.

Jeanine Chmiel
Founder & Core Counselor
Jeanine oversees each student’s full journey — discovery, school list, essays, applications, and decisions — so every recommendation stays consistent, honest, and specific to that student.
School-Specific Experts
When a student is exploring a particular institution, field, or pathway, Jeanine connects them with people who know that world from the inside — faculty, current students, and recent graduates.
- Brought in only when their expertise matches the student's goals
- Coordinated by Jeanine so the guidance stays coherent
- Chosen for relevance, not prestige for its own sake
We’d like to know your child.
Every family begins with a complimentary introductory conversation. No forms to fill out before we talk, and no obligation afterward.
